Renew an Inactive License or a License on Retired Status
Inactive licenses or licenses on retired status may not be renewed online.
To renew an Inactive License, submit the following:
- The License Renewal form submitted by mail
- The Inactive Status renewal fee and any late fees that may be due paid by check or money order only
- The required CCUs including the Jurisprudence Assessment Module
To return to Active Status from Inactive, submit the following:
- The License Renewal form submitted by mail
- The Active Status renewal fee and any late fees that may be due paid by check or money order only
- The required CCUs including the Jurisprudence Assessment Module
- A criminal history record report obtained through fingerprinting*
- Human Trafficking Prevention Training if returning to Active Status on or after 9/01/2020. See Human Trafficking Prevention Training
If you return to active status before the next renewal, you must complete the renewal process again on paper and pay the full renewal fee.
To renew a License on Retired Status, submit the following:
- The Retired Status Application/Renewal form submitted by mail
- The Retired Status renewal fee and any late fees that may be due paid by check or money order only
- The required CCUs including the Jurisprudence Assessment Module
- A criminal history record report obtained through fingerprinting*
- Human Trafficking Prevention Training if renewing on or after 9/01/2020 regardless of license expiration date. See Human Trafficking Prevention Training
To return to Active Status from Retired, submit the following:
- The License Renewal form submitted by mail
- The Active Status renewal fee and any late fees that may be due paid by check or money order only
- The required CCUs including the Jurisprudence Assessment Module
- A criminal history record report obtained through fingerprinting*

* Licensees need to comply with the fingerprinting requirement if they have not previously submitted fingerprints for initial issuance of a TX license or for a prior TX license renewal or restoration. See New Fingerprinting Requirement Effective 1/01/2019 for details.
